About Bill Chardon
Searching for images with my camera allows me to combine my love of nature and the world around me.
I have been interested in photography since my high school years, but for almost 40 years I focused on my career in graphic design and product illustration. During this time, photography took a back seat to business, but about fifteen years ago I bought my first “serious” digital camera, and I have been photographing ever since.
People ask what I like to photograph: Sometimes it is the big picture – a beautiful landscape; but it might be the details in the sand at my feet. There are times when I search for photographs, and others when photographs grab me. I consider what is visually important, and how I can capture it. What angle works best, shoot from above or below, and how do I want to frame the subject. In all cases, my goal is to capture an image in the most powerful way possible.
My photographs have been exhibited in a number of venues in the midwest and have received special recognition from B&W Magazine, Grand Rapids Art Museum, Muskegon Museum of Art, Festival of the Arts, Celebration of the Arts and ArtPrize. My work is in the collections of Grand Valley State University, The Muskegon Museum of Art, and many private collectors.
